LA Dance Academy class offers fun for all abilities

Movement is the key to feeling great. That’s the message from the team at LA Dance Academy who are providing an opportunity for people of all abilities to participate in dance classes at their studio on Woondooma Street.

Teachers Dani McLachlan and Alana Cox have started the All Abilities Dance Class, a dance program for people with a disability featuring music, laughter and lots of fun.

“This class allows people of all abilities to join in on our love of dance,” Alana said.

“It includes a warm up and stretching of the muscles and then we incorporate some smaller routines with different types of movement like clapping and group interaction.

“Then we usually finish off with a nice cool down.”

Alana said the All Ability Dance Class at LA Dance Academy was held every Thursday from 5.15pm and ran for about 45 minutes.

“It is great for their muscles. It is almost like physical therapy,” she said.

“We incorporate it with music and there is lots of laughter and smiling. It is a really nice environment.”

Good times at LA Dance Academy

Alana said the program at LA Dance Academy had already been a success, with students enjoying every minute of the weekly classes.

“Grace and Tamika are two of our star students and they love coming to dance on a Thursday,” Alana said.

“From the moment they walk through the door, the girls are beaming from ear to ear and that's what we love most – making people smile and sharing our love of dance with everyone.”

Alana said the class had also been a positive endeavour for herself and as a teacher, was learning so much from her new students.

“Watching any child progress is wonderful but to be able to offer something that is not being done in Bundaberg to a student that may not get that opportunity otherwise, it is beautiful,” she said.

LA Dance Academy offer the All Abilities Dance Class each Thursday with the first lesson free.
