Tomorrow’s Council meeting will be held in Childers and Mayor Jack Dempsey encouraged any interested community members to attend.

The decision to take meetings “on the road” was made in 2017 as a means to increase community engagement.

He said the initiative had been well received.

“It’s important to us that our community is engaged with Council resolutions and the decision-making process,” Mayor Dempsey said.

“Our monthly Ordinary Meetings are open to the public for that precise reason.

“These meetings are the main forum in which Council can progress initiatives on behalf of the community. They also provide an insight in to the transparency of our governance processes.”

Mayor Dempsey said the meeting was also an opportunity for residents to engage in person with elected representatives.

The Ordinary Meeting will be held in the Childers Supper Room at the Isis Cultural Centre on 49 Churchill Street from 10 am on 21 May 2019.

The agenda for the meeting can be accessed on Council’s website.

The next meeting to be held external to Bundaberg will be in Gin Gin on 20 August.
