Throw a snag on the barbie and chuck on the green and gold – Expressions of Interest are open for community groups keen to host the 2020 Australia Day Celebrations.

Bundaberg Regional Council community and cultural services portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters said hosting the region’s official Australia Day event was an exciting opportunity open to any not-for-profit organisation.

“The official Australia Day celebrations are a wonderful opportunity for the entire community to come together and celebrate our nation’s past, present and future,” Cr Peters said.

“The event is always well attended and very popular with the region’s families.

“Hosting Australia Day celebrations gives a community group the chance to showcase their local area to a diverse range of residents and visitors.”

The successful community group will receive funding from Council to subsidise the cost of the Australia Day Celebrations in addition to guidance and advice from Council’s events team.

Cr Peters said it was now up to a community group to stand up and make the 2020 celebrations bigger and better than ever.
