Across the Bundaberg Region community members paused at 11am to commemorate the day and time that First World War hostilities ended 101 years ago and to honour those who served.
Mayor Jack Dempsey led a strong Council presence on Remembrance Day with representatives laying wreaths at observances throughout the region.
“With the pealing of the bells and when that last note from the bugler fades away it is a very sombre time as we reflect on war and its consequences,” said the Mayor.
A big crowd gathered in Anzac Park for Bundaberg observances while Childers, Gin Gin, Bargara and Moore Park also attracted good community representation.
Students from Bundaerg St Joseph’s School attended the Remembrance Day service and witnessed the wreath laying undertaken by community leaders and those aligned with returned services.
The ceremony was held in 30-degree heat under cloudless blue skies.
