A new fish and chip shop is about to open with the owners excited to bring their take on “the best fish and chips in Bundy” to customers.
Danny and Kerry Nevins have spent the past few years operating The Grand Hotel in Biggenden and are now putting down the beer glasses to pick up the chicken salt for their next venture in Bundaberg.
Danny said Fish and Chips at 251 Bourbong will be open in about a week and will offer friendly service and “some of the best fish and chips you’ve ever eaten”.
“The secret is all in the batter!” he laughed.
The couple said their business, situated next to Pizza Capers on Bourbong Street, would not only focus on traditional fish and chips but also other delicious takeaway food.
“We are not a cafe so we won’t be serving coffee but what we will have is delicious fish and chips, burgers and everything else you would expect,” Danny said.
The couple said owning a pub and other businesses in the past had taught them a great deal about the food industry and they were excited to bring that knowledge to their takeaway store.
“We both have a great deal of experience with food,” he said.
“We are looking forward to serving customers and getting to know the community.”
Danny said three people would be manning the shop come opening time, with the couple hoping to hire another employee in the future.
“It’s a good thing for the community because we are creating a bit of local employment too,” he said.
The new shop will be open each Monday from 4pm to 8pm and Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 8pm.
