A fantastic way to start to your live music weekend is with Liana McKay entertaining audiences this evening at The Waves Sports Club from 6.30 pm.
The talented solo artist has been playing guitar and performing since she was 12 years old.
Encouraged by her family and guitar teacher, Liana started playing at local venues like Rowers on the River and Penny Lane Gardens.
“I cannot thank these venues enough for not only their support, but also allowing me to gain my confidence and help me grow into the music industry,” Liana said.
Fast track to 2019 and she now travels between Bundaberg and the Sunshine Coast for gigs at all types of venues and events.
Liana describes her music as Folk/Alternative Rock and plays anything from the 80s to your favourite current tunes.
Liana is a talented vocalist and when she combines these beautiful tones with her guitar a tambourine strapped to one foot and stomp box close by on the other she is almost a one-woman band and is currently looking at adding looping station and other effects to her show.
Drawing her inspiration from personal experience Liana dabbles in song writing and wants to create songs that are fun and upbeat, when she finds the time to scribble down words that come to life.
Another inspiration for Liana is her favourite band Ocean Alley.
“When I listen to them I just want to get up and dance, and I want my originals to have that affect on people,” Liana said.
Liana loves the energy from the audience when playing and enjoys meeting the regulars at the different venues and has made some great friends through playing up on stage.
Like most performers Liana has her rituals before gig, like listening to her favourite artists Ziggy Alberts or Ocean Alley when driving to a gig and always opens with that fantastic Joni Mitchell tune Big Yellow Taxi.
