With COVID-19 restrictions easing, Cafe 1928 is back up and running and welcoming Botanic Gardens visitors with a smile and something delicious to eat or drink.

According to owner Roger Bartolo, the cafe closed its doors for almost two months before they were given the go ahead to start serving the community once more.

“We reopened on May 15 with limited capacity, we were able to initially have 10 people then on Monday the 1 June it increased to 20,” he said.

“From now we can have 20 inside and 20 outside.”

Roger said the full menu was back on with changes on the way once the cafe became busier.

He said he was thankful to be able to reopen in such an uncertain time.

“The staff we have left are relieved they have a job and that we are up and running,” Roger said.

“For me personally, I was very worried that we may not come out of this one, we have had to deal with both floods and now this we have been very encouraged with the numbers that have been coming through.”

Roger said Cafe 1928 was the perfect place to relax and unwind while visiting all on offer at the Botanic Gardens.

“The cafe has a beautiful backdrop with great facilities surrounding us,” he said.

“Our venue is very spacious and we have a checklist in place which allows us to have 40 people but still leaves plenty of space for social distancing.”
