Rain was expected to ease on Saturday after early fog and showers.

The weather bureau says cooler and drier air will spread over most of the state in the next few days as a new ridge develops over central Queensland.

For the Wide Bay and Burnett, the bureau expects areas of low cloud, fog and drizzle this morning.

It will be partly cloudy during the remainder of Saturday with a medium (60 per cent) chance of showers along the coastal fringe, slight (30 per cent) chance elsewhere.

Daytime maximum temperatures will be in the low to mid 20s, falling on Sunday to a maximum of 22 in Bundaberg and 21 on Monday.
