Palm Park in Walkervale is set to receive a welcome facelift with the addition of a new playground.
The new play equipment will cater for children aged up to 12, and will replace the previous playground which had reached the end of its usable life.
Bundaberg Regional Council Division 10 Councillor John Learmonth said this was a terrific upgrade for Palm Park.
“The new play equipment will promote climbing, balance, sliding and swinging,” he said.
“These are all important elements in encouraging physical activity for children, as well as presenting opportunities for creative play and socialisation.
“Children can already use the upgraded basketball court and hoop.
“Park users will also be able to enjoy a new shelter and picnic table setting, while some tree planting will provide further shade.
“The upgrade supports the recreational needs of the surrounding community, and is in keeping with Council’s current infrastructure standards, forming part of the Parks Capital Works Program 2020-21.”

Palm Park playground built locally
Bundaberg-based supplier Willplay, who specialise in the design and manufacture of play, fitness and recreation equipment throughout Australia, is currently manufacturing the new play equipment.
General manager Nathan Lee said the company was a 100 per cent Australian family-owned business with 20 people employed in their Bundaberg factory and design office.
“We are a passionate team with extensive experience, and we are constantly developing new product designs to offer great play value,” he said.
“We use locally sourced products and pride ourselves on our sustainable practices, with equipment built using recycled or recyclable materials.
“Our products are designed so they can be recycled once they reach the end of their usable life.”
The Palm Park playground upgrade is due for completion by early November 2020, weather permitting.
Palm Park is located on the corner of Lloyd and Pitt Streets.
