The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew spent the morning searching for a suspected missing swimmer off the coast at Bargara.
The rescue chopper joined other emergency services around 7.45am.
Witnesses reported seeing a person struggling in the ocean about 25 metres offshore on Friday evening before losing sight of the swimmer.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was initially tasked to search for the person last night, but was unable to locate anyone.
The chopper was called back to the search area this morning.
After more than two hours of scouring the coastline, the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew was stood down and returned to base.
Police coordinated the search.
