The mouth-watering 4BU Bundaberg BBQ Battle returns this year on 30 April to 2 May at the new venue of Jack Norgate Oval, Burnett Heads.
The categories for keenly contested bragging rights are brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, chicken and lamb.
Last year’s event was cancelled because of COVID-19 after a successful cook-off at Agrotrend in 2019.
It’s fair to say that organiser Bronnie Durston is hot for barbecues with her steak in 4670 BBQ and Bundaberg Lunchbox.
“We bring teams from around Australia to Bundaberg to fight a battle over wood and coals to find our winner,” she said on Facebook.
“It’s highly competitive and one of the most sort out trophy is the Jalapeno popper off!”
This year the Bundaberg BBQ Battle will feature a special event for children, the Hitz 939 Kids Que Nation Bundaberg competition.
If you have a budding BBQ legend aged between 4-15 years old, who can cook a rib fillet steak (supplied) to perfection and whack something delicious in a bun, then email kidsqnationbundy@gmail.com for an entry form.
Entries at $40 close on 24 April.
KidsQue Nation was established in 2015, dedicated to the development of young people through competition grilling.
Bundy Broadcasters are sponsoring the Bundaberg BBQ Battle and will broadcast live from Burnett Heads on Saturday, 1 May.
