Sugarland Animal Hospital has been named Australia’s best led veterinary practice in 2021.
Last week the hospital’s leadership team attended the Lincoln Institute Awards Night on the Gold Coast after they were announced in the top five finalists earlier in the year.
The hospital then took out the top award as Australia’s Best Led Veterinary Practice on the night.
Sugarland Animal Hospital Marketing Officer Mykeala Campanini said they were proud of the award which recognises the team’s commitment to supporting staff.
“It is great to be recognised for the investment we have made in our staff,” Ms Campanini said.
“We are constantly learning and open to finding new ways to improve our leadership skills and in turn, improve the experience our team have each and every day they come to work.
“We pride ourselves on providing a supportive culture for our staff which our leadership team has worked hard to achieve.”
As a veterinary hospital of excellence, the team continue to be high performing to deliver a high standard of care to the pets of Bundaberg.
Eligible clinics underwent a rigorous auditing process including team engagement surveys, assessments of their leadership teams, a specific business performance review and a written submission.
Sugarland Animal Hospital encourages all businesses, especially in the veterinary industry, to put emphasis on providing this kind of positive environment for their team.
Since opening in 2006, the family owned business employs 27 staff including veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, receptionists, groomers, admin staff and kennel hands.
The Sugarland Animal Hospital team has been visiting local high schools to help students create resumes, cover letters and hold mock interviews to ensure they have the skills to help them find employment.
