Local produce will be the star of the show at many of the upcoming Milbi Festival events, including the Milbi Gala Ball.

The menus for each of the different catered events have been designed to showcase the best of the best grown in the region, with guests in for a treat of exquisite meals and delicious food.

Council’s Arts, Culture and Events portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said the Milbi Gala Ball would be plating up a feast of locally grown goods from the region’s producers with canapes and a two-course meal.

β€œWe have worked closely with The Waves who are doing the catering to ensure we use a range of local products such as macadamias, sweet potato and tomatoes,” Cr Learmonth said.

β€œMost items on the menu incorporate local produce, including seafood, so each plate will really be a great reflection of how wonderful the Bundaberg food bowl is.”

Sunripe Fresh Air Farming’s cherry tomatoes and Greensill Farming sweet potatoes are featured throughout the menu, complementing a range of other produce on show.

Chief Executive Officer of Greensill Farming Group Damien Botha said the chance to support local events like the Milbi Gala Ball was a fantastic way to showcase the abundance of produce from around the region.

β€œBeing able to support the Milbi Festival with local produce is an extremely important part of the business for our team and family,” Mr Botha said.

β€œHorticulture and farming is an integral pillar of the Bundaberg community, so supplying a range of fresh fruit and vegetable products every single day is part of our role with our region being the β€˜food bowl of Australia’.

β€œShowcasing our sweet potatoes at the Milbi Ball will bring our produce to life and supports this wonderful local community initiative.”

Macadamias Australia will also provide macadamias to complement a number of dishes including a crusted fish and a dessert option.

Local beverage suppliers will be showcased at a range of events throughout the 10-day festival including:

  • Kalki Moon Gin
  • Bundaberg Brewed Drinks
  • Ohana Brewery
  • Bundaberg Rum
  • Ballistic Bargara
