Kuskey's Butcher Shoppe will be providing old-style butchering with a modern edge when it opens its doors to the community on Friday.

The family business is owned and operated by Brent Kuskey who has decided to step out on his own after more than 15 years in the industry.

The Bundaberg Region local is a third generation butcher, starting his career in 2006, following in the footsteps of his dad Tracey Kuskey and his pop Ray Kuskey.

“I began my apprenticeship with Mike Smith, master butcher in Brisbane, and completed my apprenticeship with Hughes Butchery Bundaberg working alongside my Dad.

“I then followed him to Gin Gin to work in the family butcher shop for the past 10 years.”

Brent said he was extremely grateful to have had so many wonderful times and amazing support working alongside his family, who he also called his best mates.

“I have learnt a lot over the course of my career and I will continue to keep learning as I bring my passion for butchering to Bundaberg,” he said.

Brent will bring his own flair to the industry, alongside wife Kirsten, when they open up Kuskey's Butcher Shoppe at 55 Watson Street in Bundaberg South.

Kuskey's Butcher Shoppe set to open this week

The family owned and operated retail butcher shop will open this Friday and will offer a range of products, six days a week.

“We have the highest quality meat products from top of the range steak, free range chicken, butcher's own small goods, Australian pork and value packs to feed the family,” Brent said.

“We also offer a selection of beef to go in our dry ager cabinet.”

Brent said having been in the industry for most of his working life, he was proud of this next step in his career and couldn't wait to welcome customers.

“I love building a good rapport with customers, creating a welcoming atmosphere and providing a quality service as best I can,” he said.

“Customers to the new butcher shop can expect quality meat along with good quality customer service.”

Kuskey's Butcher Shoppe will open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 5.30 pm and Saturday from 7 am to noon.
