Woodgate amenities upgrade begins

Woodgate amenities upgrade
Work on the refurbishment is set to begin in early May at the Woodgate Beach Park North amenities block on the corner of The Esplanade and Second Avenue.

Located on the esplanade and overlooking the ocean, the Woodgate Beach Park North amenities block is prime real estate and will soon be upgraded to provide a more modern space for visitors.

Work on the refurbishment is set to begin on Monday, 25 July at the amenities block on the corner of The Esplanade and Second Avenue.

With an entire revamp planned, the facility will feature a new roof, doors, walls and more when construction is completed by the end of December.

The project has been identified under Bundaberg Regional Council’s Parks, Sport and Natural Areas Capital Works Program 2021 – 2022.

Parks and Gardens portfolio spokesperson Cr Wayne Honor said the facility's coastal location had played a part in its deterioration over the years.

“The block is situated right by the ocean and, because of its close proximity, has taken on the brunt of salt damage and more ” he said.

“Council will begin upgrading the amenities block from as early as this week, pending weather.

“The end result will be a modern, clean and functional space for beach visitors to utilise while enjoying their time at beautiful Woodgate.”

It's the second facility of its kind planned for a revamp in recent times, with funding secured last year for the upgrade of the Woodgate and District Residents Association community hall amenities.

Plans include an all new façade plus increased accessibility to service the needs of visitors and local groups who use the surrounding facilities.
