Taribelang Bunda Cultural Tours will launch on Saturday, providing a unique opportunity to learn more about indigenous history.

A new immersive cultural tour is launching in Bundaberg, connecting community and visitors alike with the rich indigenous history of more than 60,000 years.

Launching Saturday 28 May 2022, Taribelang Bunda Cultural Tours is the first of its kind in the region.

The half-day tour will offer guests a unique opportunity to engage in authentic storytelling, Dreamtime and taste native bush flavours, while journeying through the significant sights of the Taribelang people, experiencing a genuine connection to the land.

Recognised as traditional owners of the region, Taribelang Bunda Cultural Tours emerges with the support of Taribelang Elders past and present, with tour guides sharing Dreamtime and stories that continue to live in their hearts.

With the hope to educate, grow and learn as a community, guide Rebecca Domaille is looking forward to providing a unique opportunity for guests to connect and create authentic friendships whilst building an appreciation and greater understanding of the indigenous history woven throughout the region.

“Connection is at the forefront of our tours,” she said.

“We have been working alongside our Elders to gather these rich stories and piece together our truth to share and unite guests throughout the experience, welcoming open conversations through friendship and inclusivity.

“We are born storytellers and through these tours we endeavour to create positive change through education and the upskilling of our community.”

Bundaberg Tourism CEO Katherine Reid expressed how this culturally-awakening experience will enhance the destination offering, bringing new visitors to the region.

“Australia is home to the oldest living culture on earth and to have an experience which shares with locals and visitors the heritage and stories of the Bundaberg Region's rich history through the eyes of Taribelang Bunda on an immersive and moving cultural tour is very special and a first for our region,” she said

“We know that Taribelang Bunda Cultural Tours are well placed to drive visitation to the region, giving visitors an extraordinary insight into the region’s cultural stories of significance.

“In addition to this, the launch of the tour company will extend tourism training and employment opportunities for young indigenous people in Bundaberg, building a cultural tourism legacy for the Bundaberg Region.”

Taribelang Bunda Cultural Tours received overwhelmingly positive feedback to their prototype tour which was trialled in Bundaberg’s 2021 Milbi Festival.

The tour provided an opportunity for locals to connect with culture on Country and engage in open dialogue about the journey forward as one, and proved to be a moving introduction to the regions vibrant Indigenous culture.

Taribelang Bunda Cultural Tours are excited to deliver the tours to the public, with scheduled departures on Tuesdays and Saturdays each week, with bookings able to be made online through their website www.bundaculturaltours.com.au.
