The development involves reusing the existing commercial building for a childcare centre for vulnerable children.

A commercial building in Walkervale will be transformed into a childcare centre to cater for vulnerable children and children with disabilities.

Bundaberg Regional Council recently approved a Material Change of Use development application for the site at 8 Crawford Street, for applicant Burnett Respite Services Inc.

The development involves reusing the existing commercial building for Carinbundi Family Day Care, a local not-for-profit organisation.

Once constructed the facility will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It will include one carer on site at all times, three administration staff and the capacity to cater for seven children.

Four formalised carparks will be constructed in the area as well as one drop-off parking bay.

The childcare centre site is located in Crawford Street and encompasses an area of 835 square metres.

It currently comprises of an existing commercial building located along the Crawford Street frontage and a dwelling connecting the rear of the building.

The building is located in a residential zone, predominately surrounded by single residential dwellings, and Walkervale Primary School is situated at the back of the site.
