Since 2013, Alexandra Park Zoo has been home to two pure bred dingoes, Canis lupus dingo.

The male was named Kupali, meaning ‘younger brother’ and Lowanna meaning ‘girl’ in Indigenous language.

The dingoes receive ongoing training by zookeepers to help them to cope with situations where they might require veterinary care.

The dingoes also undertake training and conditioning including scent detection to help mentally stimulate them.
