Woodgate Bowls

Tuesday 28.02.2023:

I was out of town but I’m told it was a fabulous game with Fiona talking the game after giving a great display of draw bowling.

Thanks to Robyn Bishop who marked the game.

Social triples games were also played by a small but enthusiastic group of Ladies.

A scorcher of a day in town thankfully we have our shades and a sea breeze to keep us comfortable.

Thursday 02.03.2023:

A round of the Mens Open Singles played between Gordon Nuttall and Phil Mullins.
Some fabulous draw bowls played today with Gordon getting the advantage over Phil with his wicks and amazing placement of his bowls.
The score was in no way an indication of the quality of the game and was enjoyed by a large crowd of supporters for both bowlers.
Gordon taking the win over Phil with thanks to Wayne Stanley as Marker and Ian Kirby as Umpire.

Friday 03.03.2023:

What a feast of great bowling we had today, so pleased I dragged myself off the couch to go down to watch as did a large number of supporters!

Mens Open Singles:

We are so fortunate to have a large pool of great men bowlers who really turned it on for us today:

Game one, (in order of when they finished)
Clinton (Oyster) Dowling had a win over Greg Madsen.
Both bowlers played some great shots with Oyster coming out on top.
Thanks to Brian Cornish who was the marker for the game.

Game two:
Bob Winzar had a win over Ian Kirby.
Ian played some great shots but Bob was unstoppable today taking a decisive win over Ian, still an entertaining game to watch.
Thanks to Robbo who marked the game.

Game three:
Rowdy Taylor had a win over Trevor Christensen.
This was an amazing game of two great draw bowlers, a close score and some really tight ends!
Rowdy showed why he is a champion with Christo at one point holding four, Rowdy took the kitty with his last bowl and turned a four into a minus three!
Christo with only a few years of bowls experience gave the more experienced Rowdy a good run for his money.
Thanks to Ian Goodhew who marked the game.

Game Four:
Greg Silverthorn had a win over Robbie Byrnes in another exciting game.
The game of the draw bowler and the drive bowler with some exciting ends smashed by the Silverthorn driving machine!
No one in the crowd could complain about the high standard of bowls showcased on our greens this afternoon.
Congratulations to all players!
Special thanks to Archie Bishop who was our Umpire for the day.

Sunday 05.03.2023:
