Construction work to revamp the Baldwin Swamp Shelter Shed is well underway with new walls, ventilation and lighting installation taking place.
Bundaberg Regional Council is upgrading the space as part of the 2022/2023 Capital Works Budget and once completed, will provide a modern and well-equipped area for the community to enjoy.
The demolition phase of the project has just finished, and the construction phase is now in full swing.
Current and future work includes concreting, sheeting, cladding, installing security mesh, upgrades to the lighting, painting, and fit out of the toilets and sinks.
A breezeway has also been created to improve ventilation and security to the facility, plus new brickwork and new walls have been constructed.
Further upgrades include:
- full accessibility
- a storage room that can be used by people hiring the facility
- hirers will also have exclusive access to a kitchen area and an accessible toilet
- the public will have access to a unisex toilet as well as an accessible toilet with a shower
- a new barbecue will be installed
The project is expected to be completed by the end of April, weather permitting.
