Held on the last weekend of July, the Childers Festival is an iconic destination event that tells the unique story of Childers through place, experience, spirit and culture.
First held in 1996 as the Food and Wine Festival the event attracted 5,000 people. The following year the Bruce Highway was closed, with the crowd doubling in size. The event area continued to expand and the number of attendees increased.
It wasn’t until 2012 that the festival’s name changed to be the Childers Festival!
In recent years, the event has expanded to a multi-day event including cane fire tours, dance attractions and other events to celebrate Childers.
Across the four-day event in 2022 there were over 31,000 event goers and 19,849 visitor nights in our region.
In 2023, there’s even more packed into the weekend with markets, tours, attractions and amazing headline artists, you’ll want to familiarise yourself with the program that just launched yesterday.
