Long-serving Big W Bundaberg employee Barbra Minter has celebrated the company's 45th anniversary, highlighting the many changes made to the store over the decades.
Last week the team celebrated the milestone with the local community, operating from its original location since 1978.
In the early days the local Big W store sold everything from whitegoods, hardware, paint and had its own mechanic shop and cafeteria onsite.
The store enjoyed several makeovers over the years but had a major refit in 2011 which saw a complete remodel of the store with new tiles and white fixtures.
More recently, BIG W added a Party Store and has become an online Pickup Hub for the Bundaberg Region to allow for customers to pick up their orders within the day.
Team member Barbra has been with the store since 1981 and still works there full time.
“We are all so thrilled to be celebrating this great milestone for the store, 45 years what an achievement!” she said.
“It’s incredible to think how much the store has changed over this time.
“We used to have to price everything manually even if it was just reduced for a week.
“Then we had pricing guns introduced which saved us a lot of time.”
Customers were invited to commemorate this milestone with the team with free cupcakes and balloons.
