Local Uber users are among the most punctual, clean and polite according to the rideshare company, with Bundaberg named in the top four most well mannered riders in regional Queensland.

The Uber Rider Rating allows drivers to rate their customers based off the experience they have while transporting them around the Bundaberg Region.

This year the average Australian rider rating came in at a respectable 4.82 out of five stars, perfectly on par with 2022, while Bundaberg users showed they were above average when it came to using their manners and received a score of 4.85 stars.

Uber head of rider operations Hoa Nguyen said the Uber rider rating allowed drivers to critique passengers who had used Uber more than five times.

“While rider ratings aren’t measured against a specific criteria, driver partners tell us that it’s relatively simple to secure a five star rating,” Hoa said.

“In particular, they value when their passengers are punctual, clean and take their rubbish with them, say hello and generally display respect to them and their car.

Driver partners have also cited door slams as a reason why they deduct stars, so remember to respect their cars and close doors gently.”

Hoa said Uber’s rider rating system was an important part of the service as it allowed the driver to provide feedback of their customers, just as Uber clients could rate their driver’s service.

“Uber’s two-way ratings system fosters mutual respect and consideration between riders and driver partners,” Hoa said.

“Just as riders expect driver-partners to treat them with respect, driver-partners hope to feel the same acknowledgement from riders.

“Ratings not only help everyone get the most from using the Uber app, but they help us pinpoint issues and enhance safety for every user on the platform.

“While ratings are optional and anonymised to protect a user’s privacy, our aim is to encourage riders to be mindful of their on-trip behaviour and encourage more positive interactions between riders and driver partners.”
