Business Excellence Awards submissions
Chamber of Commerce president Tim Sayre and Mayor Jack Dempsey are excited for the upcoming Business Excellence Awards.

The Bundaberg Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards will be held early next month with two days left to nominate and tickets still available to attend.

The annual event showcases the region’s businesses, celebrating their successes, contributions to community, innovations and business excellence.

Winners will be announced at the awards dinner held at the Bundaberg Multiplex on Saturday 2 September.

Chamber president Tim Sayre said the business awards were important recognition of the hard work and achievements by local businesses.

“We want the community to nominate their favourite businesses and we also want the businesses to apply because it is a great way to be recognised,” Tim said.

“Winning an award shows the community that you are a leader in your field or business sector.”

Small Business Friendly and sustainable business support

Mayor Jack Dempsey said Council was proud to continue its support of the annual event, this year sponsoring two award categories including the Small Business of the Year and Promoting Sustainability.

“We know that small businesses create jobs, grow local economies and provide essential goods and services,” Mayor Dempsey said.

”That’s why Council recently joined the Queensland Small Business Program and we are proud to this year sponsor the Bundaberg Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year award category.

“The Promoting Sustainability Award, which is another category Council has sponsored this year, supports a number of Council initiatives from Eco Destination Certification to the adoption of the Towards Net Zero strategy.

“It’s great to see the importance of these initiatives being recognised by local businesses.”

Promoting Sustainability

Tim said it was the first year the Promoting Sustainability Award would be added to the Business Excellence Awards.

“The new sustainability award is looking at recognising businesses that are making a difference to the environment by following sustainable practices,” Tim said.
