A popular play area in Burnett Heads will soon be safer, with fencing to be installed around the perimeter of the playground and a picnic shelter.

Gorman Park, located on Kelly Street in Burnett Heads, is a popular location for families featuring a playground with a slide and swings, barbecue facilities, basketball court, amenities and water views.

The barrier fence will be constructed as part of Bundaberg Regional Council’s Parks Capital Works Program 2022 – 2023.

The aluminium fence (identified in yellow on the image below) will enclose the playground, one shelter and a grassed area providing a safe play environment.

The remaining shelter, toilet, barbecue, and basketball court will remain outside of the fenced area.

The 1.5 m high aluminium fence will feature two pedestrian gates and a maintenance gate.

The Gorman Park fence installation is set to begin on 28 August and, pending unforeseen delays, is planned to be completed by 15 September in time for the school holidays.

For safety reasons, access to the playground and picnic shelter which will be enclosed by the fence will be closed to public access during installation.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused while these upgrade works take place.
