Community groups can apply to host a ripper 2024 Australia Day Celebration for a true blue chance to have fun and raise funds.

Each year Bundaberg Regional Council offers a community group the opportunity to host the region’s official Australia Day Celebrations on January 26.

Arts, Culture and Events portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said it was a great opportunity for a local community group to develop a fundraising initiative.

“Each year our community comes together to celebrate Australia Day and our main celebrations are led by a not-for-profit group,” Cr Learmonth said.

“They are provided with a budget from Council as well as guidance and assistance from our experienced events team to host the day.”

He said the region’s Australia Day celebrations were always well attended events.

The successful community group will receive funding from Council to subsidise the cost of the Australia Day Celebrations in addition to guidance and advice from Council’s events team.

How to submit EOI for 2024 Australia Day celebrations

Interested groups can submit an Expression of Interest to host the 2024 Australia Day celebrations here or by collecting an application package from their nearest Council service centre.

For additional information contact the events team on 1300 883 699 or by emailing events.admin@bundaberg.qld.gov.au.

Expressions of interest must be lodged by 27 October 2023.

The Expressions of Interest relate to the hosting of Bundaberg Regional Council’s official Australia Day celebration only. All other community events and/or funding is separate.

In recent years, the official Australia Day Celebrations have been hosted at Bargara by the Rotary Club of Bundaberg City Daybreak in celebration of the railway picnics traditionally held at the location.
