New decorations spread Christmas cheer
The community Christmas Tree in Buss Park spreads festive cheer.

The community Christmas lights were switched on last night and in the lead up residents may have noticed new decorations popping up around the region.

Bundaberg Regional Council has been spreading the festive cheer wider than ever before with a new-look Bundaberg CBD community Christmas tree and decorations in new locations.

Community Christmas tree and CBD decorations

Standing an impressive 6.5 metres in Buss Park, the community Christmas tree delights during the festive season.

Replacing old decorations that had deteriorated, new ornaments adorn the popular tree including a custom-made 60 metre bauble garland commissioned to fit the Christmas tree’s dimensions.

Setting off the new garland alongside dazzling stars is 8,000 individual icicle lights spanning 120 metres which were wrapped twice around the tree.

Lining Bourbong Street, LED motifs were installed to shine the Christmas message.

This dazzling light display has been extended this year by another block and now finishes at the Tantitha Street intersection.

Motifs spread cheer through region

Turtle Motif Bargara
Turtle motifs can be found at Bargara celebrating Christmas and the nesting season.

Spreading the festive spirit through the region, 50 new non-illuminated motifs have been installed in Gin Gin, Bargara, Burnett Heads, Moore Park Beach and Elliott Heads.

Motifs featuring present boxes, wreaths, stars and Christmas trees were created and will be rotated through the areas each festive season for variety.

Turtle designed motifs follow the coastline at Bargara to celebrate the nesting season which coincides with the festive season and draws many visitors to its shores.

These are a holographic design created to reflect the light without adding light pollution which is detrimental to turtle’s nesting.
