The next event in the line-up for Council's free, live beachside concerts takes place at South Heads Parklands in Burnett Heads this weekend, featuring the blues-inspired music of The Bondi Cigars and Abby Skye.
The community is invited to make the most of summer on the region’s beautiful beaches at the series of Summer Sundays concerts held every Sunday in January.
These family friendly events will be hosted at Burnett Heads on 21 January and Moore Park Beach on 28 January from 2 to 5 pm.
Locals and visitors alike can soak up the sun, enjoy some live music and grab a bite from one of the food stalls available.

The Bondi Cigars
What is your music style?
The Bondi Cigars play mainly original material in the vein of R n B, Soul, Blues, Swamp and Roots Music.
What do you enjoy most about performing at events llike Summer Sundays?
Being able to perform to a mixed all ages audience is something the band really enjoys doing to watch the younger members get acquainted with our music and the older generation enjoy the music we play.
What can audiences expect from your Summer Sundays performance?
The audience can expect a show that delves into a blend of all styles of music that have influenced the band members over their musical careers.
Have you been to the Bundaberg Region before?
Yes the band has been to Bundaberg and its surrounds several times and enjoyed the City Precinct being next to the Burnett River and good cafes, also a trip to the Botanical Gardens and the Hinkler Hall of Aviation and the occasional trip up to Burnett Heads.
What are you looking forward to experiencing while visiting in January?
We are looking forward to visiting some of the places that we haven't seen as yet and catching up with some friends and drinking good coffee.
What is your favourite way to spend a summer Sunday?
Really spending some time with the locals and hearing their stories and some of the local musicians that we have met on previous visits.
What is your ultimate summer song?
Well that's probably a loaded question so I'll give you a couple, number one has to be Summertime Blues by Duane Eddy and maybe One Summer by Daryl Braithwaite.
Abby Skye
What is your music style?
I work in lots of different styles, but my live performances are predominantly acoustic rock, soul, blues and pop.
What do you enjoy most about performing at events like Summer Sundays?
I love seeing people enjoy themselves at events like Summer Sundays, especially families, people unwinding from their work week and the ones who really get into the music.
What can audiences expect from your Summer Sundays performance?
I’ll be playing a bunch of cruisy Sunday arvo tunes that everyone can sing along to. I usually do a mix of newer repertoire, older classics and original music, if it’s requested.
What do you love most about the Bundaberg Region in the summer?
I absolutely love people of Bundaberg and the warmer weather allows everyone to catch up at events like this and enjoy the sunshine.
It’s a wonderful town and a great place to live.
What is your favourite way to spend a summer Sunday?
If I’m not performing, my favourite place to be is on my farm, enjoying the peace, stunning views and my beautiful puppies.
What is your ultimate summer song?
We have a playlist called ‘Sunday Morning’ which has all our Sunday favourites like Bruce Hornsby and Billy Joel, but my favourite right now is ‘i/o’ by Peter Gabriel. No matter how many time I hear it, it still gives me goosebumps.
