Jack Black’s hit movie School of Rock will soon be brought to life on the Playhouse Theatre stage, with tickets on sale from tomorrow.
The Youth Theatre production will showcase on June 27, 28, 29 at 7 pm and a matinee on Saturday June 29 at 3 pm.
Youth Theatre Director Tracey Shears said audiences can expect a fun and entertaining show.
“The musical is based on the hit movie and our cast are doing a fabulous job bring it to the stage,” Tracey said.
“The show follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school.
“Dewey opens the eyes of the students, turning a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band.
“He just has one problem – how can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?
“The ensuing antics are hilarious.
“We know our Youth Theatre productions sell out very quickly, so we encourage everyone to book their tickets early.”
Bookings will open to the public on Sunday 9 June at 10 am.
While the Youth Theatre production isn’t part of the subscription season, subscribers will have priority bookings on Saturday 8 June.
The box office will be open at 2b Steffensen Street weekends from 10 am to noon (in person or on the phone 4153 1904), and online at the Playhouse Theatre website at http://theplayhousetheatre.org.au/content/
