Burnett Men

Social Bowls Results:

Tuesday 16 July: Winners: Dave Rye, Pat Leahy. Runners Up: Reg, Vince Rush. 1st Sportsman: Alan Nielsen, Ross Hussey. 2nd Sportsman: Sue Petterson, Eddie Cross.

Wednesday 17 July: Scroungers: No game played.

Thursday Night 18 July: Winners: Kingsley & Gary Nicko. The ‘Pick the Joker’ Jackpot was not won and will now be at $448+ for next Thursday.

Friday 19 July: Winners: Cal Toft, Alan Vinegrad. Runners Up: Kerry Innes, Ian Biggs. Sportsman: Roy Poelstra, Wayne Watson.

Saturday 20 July: No results.

Competition:

Members are asked to check the Competition draws and start arranging games by mutual agreement where possible. Competitions can now be played on a Sunday on QRI Bowls days. The next two QRI Sundays are Sunday 4 August 9 am & Sunday 18 August 9 am (Green will be cut & rolled). If arranging a game, please let the GD know.

The official Competition Call is always on the Club Noticeboard, so please check the board whenever you are at the Club.

Any issues with the above Competition Call, please see the Games Director – Keith Whalley. Members, please try to arrange any other Competition games by mutual agreement.

Just a reminder that when you are playing in Club Competitions, you must be in full Club uniform which includes shorts/trousers.

Pennant:

Pennant starts this Saturday 27 July. Please check the selected teams as they are on the Club Noticeboard. Division 1 play Bargara at Bargara, Division 3 play Bundaberg at Bundaberg, Division 4 play Isis at Burnett and Division 6 play Bargara at Burnett. Green fees will be $14 with all teams meeting back at Burnett after the games where the days results will be announced, and two lucky draws will be conducted.

Social Bowls Events:

Visitors are most welcome on all playing days. Entry sheets are at the club or phone the Club on 41514217 during opening hours. If you cannot get through to the club number regarding bowls, then please phone 0403531304.

Tuesday 23 July: $300 Open Triples – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12 pm, green fees paid by 12.30 pm for a 1 pm start.

Wednesday 24 July: ‘Scroungers’ Singles – due to the cold weather and a lack of numbers, Scroungers will be postponed until the weather warms up. 

Thursday 25 July: Night Bowls – bowls start at 6.30 pm, names in by 6 pm. Bowl under lights and enjoy a fun filled night with a chance at the ‘Pick the Joker’ Jackpot which will be $448+ this week. Visitors and those that want to try bowls for the first time will be made to feel very welcome.

Friday 26 July: Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12 pm, green fees paid by 12.30 pm for a 1 pm start.

Saturday 27 July: Pennant Round 1. Social bowls will be Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30 pm for a 1 pm start.

Coming Events:

Tuesday 13 August – 50/50 Day where 50 percent of the green fees for the day is returned as prizemoney. This will be a guaranteed minimum of $200.

Club News:

Club opening hours: Monday (Club closed), Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 11.00am – 9.30pm, Thursday 2.00pm – 9.30pm, Friday 10.00am – 9.30pm, Saturday 10.00am – 6pm (10pm for Functions) Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2.00pm.

The Goose Club raffle will be drawn on Friday night 26 July at 7 pm – Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased during the week from the Bar staff or on Friday night. There are 15 great prizes to be won – you need to be in it to win it! Proceeds from the raffle help to support your Club.

The Member’s Draw will also be held on Friday night 26 July and stands at $130, so come along, have a meal and a few drinks with the chance to win some great cash and prizes.

There will be live entertainment on Friday 26 July presented by Keely Ellen and the following Friday 2 August entertainment will be provided by ‘The Other Bloke’. Members, Guests, and Visitors are always welcome.

A Courtesy Bus is now available on a Friday Night. The first pick up will be any time after 5 pm and the final return trip will be 9pm. To make a booking call 0413335767 after 4 pm and speak to the driver directly. (Bundaberg Suburban areas only). A small donation to help cover fuel costs would be appreciated. Woodgate Bowls

Monday 15 July: The second day in our week of bowls, great roll up of 60 bowlers out on the greens for a lovely day out! Winning Rink draw: Ken Collins Brian Cornish Runners Up:Pam Watson Gary Watson Consolation: Peter Navguation Lee Bastin.

Tuesday 16 July. Ladies Day: From all reports today was a day full of fun and frivolity and a jolly good time was had by all! Lots of good natured banter could be heard all over the greens! Pairs game with the first 7 ends played in the usual 2-2-2-2 manner. The second 7 ends played 2-4-2. The final 7 the skips played lead and the leads played as skip! 52 Ladies out in the winter sunshine with a bit of a sneaky wind to test their mettle, all enjoyed playing on our amazing grass greens!

Winning rink draw: Rink 7: Mary Thomas Liz McConchie, Encouragement: Rink 4: Michelle Wood Jill Hitchman. Winning Skip: Suzanne Weir. Winning Lead: Alison Boardman Losing Skip: Julie Copland Losing Lead: Carolyn Close AND to top it all off the jackpot went off to the first rink to draw out their margin, plus 5! Suzanne Weir and Jenny Knight, Rhonda Byrnes and Josie Wormsley.

Wednesday 18 July: Our coldest day so far this winter, didn’t deter  our men with almost 90 taking to the greens for an enjoyable game of bowls! Thursday 18 July: Another great day out on the greens today playing triples with a twist! Two games of fourteen ends each, self select two bowl triples with the winners decided by overall margins for both games, and the daily jackpot up for grabs as well!

Winning team: L. Bastin, S.  Manson and skip R. Phillips.. Second place: Fiona Dowling, Trevor Christensen and skip Clinton Dowling. Third place: Judy Stanley, Wayne Stanley and skip Rob Anderson The daily jackpot went off shared between: Betty Cozens, Peter Anderson and skip Edna Anderson Rhonda Byrnes, Phil Mullins and skip Donna Smith.
