Streets of Remembrance: FSGT Arthur Drewe

Drewe Street Streets of Remembrance
Drewe Street was named after Flight Sergeant Arthur Douglas Drewe in July 1951, and it has now been included in Bundaberg Regional Council’s Streets of Remembrance program.

Drewe Street in Kepnock has been included in Bundaberg Regional Council’s Streets of Remembrance program, which honours local veterans by adding their badge of service to the streets named after them.

Drewe Street was named after Flight Sergeant Arthur Douglas Drewe in July 1951.

Arthur Drewe was a resident of Bundaberg when he enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force.

He served in the No. 150 Squadron during the Second World War.

FSGT A Drewe died during a flying battle over the Mediterranean Sea on 26 August 1943.

His name is also located on panel 121 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.

Streets of Remembrance program

Bundaberg Regional Council’s Streets of Remembrance program honours local veterans by adding their badge of service to the streets named after them.

The initial launch of the program saw 30 streets identified and had more than doubled in the first six months.

Community members are encouraged to nominate future street name suggestions as well as help to identify existing streets already named after veterans to be included in the program.

Applications are available through the Council website here and will be assessed as specified within the project guidelines.

Find a list of recognised streets here with information gathered from Council records and the Australian National Archives.
