Pageant of Lights
Community favourite Pageant of Lights is back with a festive line up of of seasonal entertainment.

Bundaberg’s Christmas season is set to get off to a sparkling start as the Pageant of Lights returns to light up Bourbong Street on 5 December.

The popular free community event will take place from 5.30 pm with live entertainment, a dazzling parade of Christmas floats and the official switching on of the Christmas lights.

Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn said the event was a great way to start the festive season.

“It’s wonderful when we get the chance to gather together as a community to celebrate and what better way to kick off our Christmas program than with the Pageant of Lights,” Mayor Blackburn said.

“This event is a favourite for a reason with something for everyone.

“Not only is there the famous parade itself but there will also be entertainment across two stages as well the delight of officially turning on our Christmas lights.

“And for those looking to shop locally for their presents this year, don’t forget to visit the artisan twilight market in Gallery Park to find that something special.”

Festive fun

There will be plenty entertainment on offer before the parade begins at 7 pm with roving performances from Bundaberg Dance Academy and The Neon Loft.

The Buss Park stage will see showcases from the Kalkie Drum Band, Bundaberg Combined School Choir and Drama Queens while the CBD Pavilion Stage will play host to the Bundaberg Municipal Band, TNT Dance Studio and Citicoast Church.

“There is so much to look forward to, right up to the end of the event with the presentation to the parade winners,” Mayor Blackburn said.

“We encourage everyone to make an evening of it and enjoy the full line up of festive fun.”

Council’s 2024 Christmas program features a range of exciting events across the region including drive in movies, shows and even two firework displays to ring in the New Year.

  1. Great Pageant of Lights last night.
Enjoyed it and all the kids LOVED it, but…
Why did they have to persist in broadcasting (99% of the people there couldn’t make out the commentary, anyway, and it was just major noise in the background!), and playing doof-doof music, during the whole thing, at the Buss Park stage?? Very off-putting!
