A Summer Reading Club will be held at Bundaberg Regional Libraries during the school holidays inviting young readers to embark on a summer of literary adventure.
Themed “Make it, Change it, Save it,” the club offers free, fun, and self-guided reading challenges for kids and teens.
Bundaberg Regional Council Arts, Heritage and Asset Management portfolio spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth said the Summer Reading Club was designed to keep young minds engaged and inspired over the school holidays.
“It’s a fantastic way to prevent reading slumps and ensure a smooth transition back to school,” he said.
“As part of the club, young readers can enjoy exclusive perks such as behind-the-scenes library tours and a sneak peek at new books.
“They can also participate in a variety of reading challenges, including Well-travelled, Read aloud, Book chooser, Random reader and Fun seeker.
Cr Learmonth said by completing these challenges, children can earn stickers, badges and prizes while exploring the vast collection of books available at Council libraries.
“Reading is a powerful tool that can spark imagination, improve language skills and reduce stress,” he said.
“The Summer Reading Club provides a fun and engaging way for children to develop a lifelong love of reading.
“There are many fun activities to follow in a colourful easy guide which is designed to enhance a child’s love of reading.”
Reading can help children cope with emotions, build empathy, and develop a better understanding of the world around them.
Bundaberg Regional Libraries is encouraging parents and caregivers to support their children’s reading journey and make it a fun family activity.
