Waste changes for Easter, Anzac Day

Kerbside bin collections will continue as normal over the break, so there will be no impact on household bin collection services.

Residents are being reminded that most waste facilities will close for the four-day Easter weekend and Anzac Day public holiday, but household bin collections will continue as normal.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s Bundaberg Waste Management Facility, located on University Drive, will be the only facility operating between 18 April and 21 April and on 25 April 2025.

Water, Waste and Renewable Economy portfolio spokesperson Cr Gary Kirk said, “our waste and recycling team work year-round to manage the region’s rubbish and recycling.”

“By only having our main waste management facility open for the Easter weekend and on public holidays, we feel that we can strike a positive balance between maintaining services for our community and giving our dedicated workforce more opportunities to spend time with friends and family.”

“Kerbside bin collections will continue as normal, so there will be no impact on household bin collection services”.

Cr Kirk said the changes to waste facility operation hours, introduced earlier this year, represented a cost saving for residents.

“Keeping facilities open on public holidays comes with increased staffing costs however, on these days, patronage of our waste facilities is quite low.”

He said while kerbside collections would continue as normal on the public holidays of Friday 18 April, Monday 21 April and Friday 25 April, residents were advised to place their bins out the night before these collection days to ensure timely service.

All recycled goods shops will be closed on 18, 19, 20, 21 and 25 April.
