Childers Neighbourhood Centre will mark Neighbourhood Centre Week in May by bringing the community together for a celebratory morning tea.
The free event will take place at Millennium Park on 13 May with the aim of fostering connection, support and belonging.
Guests will be treated to a slice of cake and can write a heartfelt message on a paper heart to add to a display.
Bundaberg Regional Council Community Resilience and Connection portfolio spokesperson Councillor Tracey McPhee said local neighbourhood centres played a vital role in building strong communities.
“Neighbourhood Centre Week is a nationwide initiative highlighting the role and impact of our local Neighbourhood Centres and the amazing work they do,” Cr McPhee said.
“The theme for Queensland this year is ‘the heart of our community’ and I think our neighbourhood centres really serve that purpose across the Bundaberg Region.
“From early years playgroups to craft gatherings and card games, neighbourhood centres are places where everyone is welcome, and this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that.”
