A pedestrian bridge in Baldwin Swamp Environmental Park is set to be upgraded, with Bundaberg Regional Council replacing the deteriorating infrastructure to enhance safety and usability for visitors.
Works are scheduled to commence on Tuesday 13 May and will take place on weekdays during daytime hours.
Subject to weather conditions, the upgrade is expected to be completed by mid-July 2025.
During the construction period, Baldwin Swamp will remain open to the public.
Alternative walking paths will need to be used and appropriate signage will be installed to guide visitors safely around the work zone.
Council acknowledges the inconvenience that may result from the temporary disruption and appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation throughout the upgrade process.
Baldwin Swamp Environmental Park, located near the Bundaberg CBD, has a long-standing reputation as a natural haven.
Originally a low-lying floodplain, the area was transformed in the 1970s into the urban nature reserve known today for its rich biodiversity and tranquil wetlands.
It has since become a valued community space for walking, birdwatching and environmental education.
