Bundaberg Regional Council will commemorate the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week with a range of activities held across the region from 6 to 13 July.
The week will start off with a NAIDOC Flag Raising Gathering held in Buss Park on 7 July from 10 am where all are welcome and morning tea will be provided.
Childers Neighbourhood Centre, in partnership with National Australia Bank Childers and Isis Child and Family Support will hold a NAIDOC Week celebration event at Millennium Park in Childers on 9 July from 9.30 am.
The event will feature a performance from the Butchulla Land and Sea Rangers and a display on their work around dingo awareness on K’gari.
Other activities on the day include a community mural, basket weaving, dancing, a free BBQ morning tea and cultural activities with Kidz Mob.
Children can also celebrate by creating and designing their own boomerang with Child and Family Support at the Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre and Bundaberg Regional Libraries will display NAIDOC themed puzzles featuring different indigenous artworks at each branch.
The NAIDOC Celebration Day event will take place in Bundaberg at Alexandra Park on 11 July with workshops, live music, facepainting and a free BBQ.
The week will culminate with a free screening of Windcatcher, a feel-good film about the power of friendship, at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre on 16 July.
