St Luke’s Anglican College in Bundaberg took out the hotly contested CQUniversity School Business Challenge final.

The final saw seven schools from Bundaberg/Wide Bay, Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville vie for the honours, but the Bundaberg college was too good on the night.

The team consisted of Lachlan Hocking, Makayla Sirl, Darcy Hansel and Hurley Gatley.

Coming in as runner-up was Whitsunday Anglican School in Mackay.

Each member of the winning team received an additional $2500 CQUniversity Scholarship payable upon enrolment in the School of Business & Law at CQUniversity. This made a total scholarship of $4000 for each member of the winning team.

In addition, the winning school received a perpetual trophy and an additional $3000 cash prize. This made a total cash prize of $3500.

The runner-up school received a $1500 cash prize.

Challenge coordinator and quiz master Martin Turner said the event was a huge success.

“We had an exciting final to our School Business Challenge this year,” Mr Turner said.

“Congratulations to St Luke’s Anglican College, our winner of the final this year. Such a great achievement, winning the final from 27 high schools from across regional Queensland who competed in the Challenge this year.

“And the Runner-up this year, Whitsunday Anglican School, provided stiff competition, and were only narrowly beaten by St Luke’s.”
