Bundaberg Cricket Association treasurer Shaun Rose was this week awarded Queensland Cricket’s Wide Bay Volunteer of the Year Award.

In announcing the award, Queensland Cricket – Community and Pathways said Shaun had been a key player in the association's financial turn around, due to his relentless organisation of funding applications.

“As well as this, he has been assisting with the coordination of major events for the region such as the Bulls Masters tour and Aussie Home Loans T20 premier league franchise competition.”

Shaun was humble in accepting the award saying that increasing cricket numbers across the region was not a one man job.

“It’s an honour,” Shaun said.

“There are a lot of people that put a lot of time in to it. It is great to be acknowledged but it really is a team effort.”

He said the committee was continuing its plans to grow the sport locally.

Shaun will now attend the state awards in Brisbane in coming months.
