Leaders in innovation to visit Bundaberg

Leaders in innovation throughout the Bundaberg Region and around the world will come together this Friday for the Hinkler Innovation Series.

The series is a bi-annual event which brings both local and world-renowned speakers to the Bundaberg Region.

This Friday’s event will be delivered in a partnership between Bundaberg Regional Council and CQUniversity.

Hinkler Innovation Series panellists

Queensland Chief Entrepreneur and Founder and CEO of Everledger Leanne Kemp will lead a panel of four business leaders discussing positive ways to grow the region.

Best Practice Software Chief Operating Officer Craig Hodges and Impact Community Services Chief Operating Officer Tanya O’Shea will feature on the panel.

Jodie Mlikota, Founder and CEO of Gathar and CQUniversity Alumni will be travelling from Cairns for the event.
Ms Mlikota said she was really excited to be part of the panel.

“I am looking forward to getting to know more about the innovation ecosystem in Bundaberg,” Ms Mlikota said.

“Bundaberg does have a good reputation around innovation and I am excited to meet the drivers behind this.”

She said events that bring innovators together were really important. “Regional communities need to work together as we are all experiencing similar issues.”

Dave Swain, Founder of DataMuster will also be travelling intrastate from Rockhampton as the fourth panellist.   

CQUniversity Innovation Showcase

Following on from the panel discussion, CQUniversity will showcase their most innovative projects, concepts and ideas.

Presentations will explore a range of topics from education and social through to agricultural and environmental.

Dr Wendy Fasso of CQUniversity will speak on a Makerspace project that supports female students with developing knowledge in STEM, and Sebastian Cerone of Less Industries will present on his work in precision agriculture and “Internet of Things” technology employed through his locally based agtech startup.

The Hinkler Innovation Series event will be held this Friday 24 May at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre.

The event will begin with a light lunch at 11.45 am which will be followed by Leanne Kemp’s presentation at 12.30 pm.

Leanne will lead the panel discussion followed by the CQUniversity Innovation Showcase. The event will conclude with drinks and a networking session from 4 pm.
