Australia's future Olympic stars could kickstart their sporting careers right here with two come-and-try nights at West Bundaberg Little Athletics.

The club is hosting the two events next month and is urging families to get involved with all of the fun and fitness on offer.

Secretary Leayr Franchetto said the Bundaberg Athletic Club had been operating in the region since 1956 and incorporated West Bundaberg Little Athletics in 2001.

“Currently members range from Tiny Tots to Masters and we cater for all abilities,” she said.

“Our season runs from September until April, 6 pm every Friday night with a short break over Christmas.”

Leayr said the Come and Try Nights for West Bundaberg Little Athletics would be held on 16 and 23 August and were all about showcasing exactly what the club offered.

“It's the perfect opportunity for kids and their families to have a go and see if it is something they want to do,” she said.

“We offer a range of events from sprints to long distance, hurdles, shot put, discus and more.”

Leayr said members of West Bundaberg Little Athletics prided themselves on being part of a supportive community and last year more than 150 people were involved in the club.

“It's a great family to be part of, everyone is very supportive of one another,” she said.

“It's a place where children can have fun, work on their fitness, make friends and spend time with their parents.”
