Bundaberg Regional Council will hold its first post-election meeting on Wednesday, 15 April at 2pm in the Civic Centre supper room with social distancing measures in place.

The returning officer has declared the results in all divisions and the mayoral election, and Councillors will be sworn in during Tuesday.

The agenda for Wednesday's meeting includes the election of deputy mayor and appointments to the Local Disaster Management Group.

Council chief executive Steve Johnston said to ensure the smooth operations of Council in the event of an emergency, including Covid-19, it's important that representation on the Local Disaster Management Group be determined at the earliest opportunity.

“It is recommended that the Mayor act as the chair of the group and one other Councillor be a representative on the group,” Mr Johnston said.

“The existing arrangement is that the Councillors for Division 2 and 3 act as chair of the Childers and Gin Gin Disaster Management Sub-Groups respectively, and it is proposed that this continue.

“Determination of Council representation on other Council and community committees and organisations will be addressed at a later date.”

  1. Congratulations to those of you who have been elected. Let’s plan for the future to make our town as good as it can be, as good as its potential. In fact to fulfil the vision “to build Australia’s best regional community”. I look forward to renewed energy and a real plan towards achieving this goal.
