A revamped Childers Service Centre will reopen its door to the public on Monday morning.

Childers Service Centre received scheduled maintenance during the COVID-19 related lockdown with new carpet, new front counter and repainting included in the refurbishment.

Remodelling of some offices has also been undertaken to improve the versatility of the areas as both workstations and meeting places.

While Council tradesmen attended to much of the carpentry-based maintenance and alterations, local company R & J Solano were contracted to undertake the interior office painting.

Divisional representative Cr Bill Trevor said easing of restrictions was resulting in the gradual reopening of Council buildings and services.

“Numerous facilities including libraries, outdoor exercise area, play equipment, Neighbourhood Centre and Childers Pool are all currently operational in Childers,” Cr Trevor said.

“Residents are reminded that the Palace Memorial Building will open on Tuesday, 23 June from 10am until 6pm to cater to the 20th anniversary of the Backpackers Hostel fire. The art gallery will then remain closed until a scheduled opening on 28 August.

“I urge anyone attending Council facilities to observe the required social distancing measures to ensure safety for our staff and individuals.”
