Council has chosen to opt-out of the Plumbing ‘Fast-track’ permit application process to create a fairer system for all.

Council’s Building and Plumbing Services portfolio spokesperson, Cr Jason Bartels, said it would ensure all applications were processed speedily.

“We have decided to opt-out of the plumbing fast-track application process so Council staff can provide the same level of service for all customers,” Cr Bartels said.

“It also ensures permit approval times are kept to a minimum for all customers, whilst ensuring to provide high-quality and cost-effective plumbing processes.”

In the last financial year the average approval time for plumbing applications was under 5 days, which is well within the standard application timeframe set by Council.

“Throughout this period, our Fast-track applications made up only 3.6% of all applications,” Cr Bartels said.

“It made sense to concentrate on the one system, which will allow for further reductions in the processing time for applications, as well as timely and effective inspections, without needing to have Fast-Track applications.”
