Rev up your engines and take part in a good cause raising money to help Bundaberg youngster Dash Leather in Dice 4 Dash.
Four-year-old Dash Leather was diagnosed with childhood cancer, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, on New Years Eve and since then has been in Brisbane with his dad, Shaun Leather, fighting the disease.
Dice 4 Dash organiser Jasmine Jeffrey is calling for the community to get behind the local father-and-son duo and raise money to help them while living in Brisbane for Dash’s treatment.
“Bikes and cars are both welcome, actually it’s a family event so the perfect opportunity for mums and dads to bring the kids along,” Jasmine said.
“We know how giving the Bundy community can be from our last organised ride ‘Ride for William’, which had just under 300 participants; we know this event will be a great fundraiser for a family in need.”
Dice for Dash participants will leave CQUniversity and stop at South Kolan Hotel for dice games, and ride to Moore Park Beach, before finishing at The Club Hotel for a Sunday session of raffles and entertainment by local musician Abby Skye.
“Leon and Rodney from The Club have been wonderful and very supportive, it’s great to know businesses in the community want to jump on board with support for local families,” Jasmine said.
“There is so much community focus when it comes to children – people just want to help.
“So many small local businesses are wanting to help in any way they can.
“I guess situations like this really touches everyone’s heart.”
Jasmine said Dash had recently started another round of treatment, with six rounds of radiation in three days, before he starts a week of chemotherapy and then a bone marrow transplant.
