A new 24 hour service station, featuring a food and drink outlet, playground and park, has been approved in Childers on the Bruce Highway.
The Material Change of Use application was lodged by Brisbane Prestige Property Development Pty Ltd over land from 164 to 168 Churchill Street.
According to the application, the Childers service station will feature six bays, catering to both the local community and travellers.
“The proposed development incorporates a playground and park area on the balance of the site,” the application said.
“The proposed food and drink outlet also provides an outdoor seating area to the frontage of the site which has a positive street front address.
“Landscaping will be able to incorporate three tier planting to maximise amenity and shade and to provide privacy to residents of the adjoining lots.
“The proposed development will provide for pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular movements that maximise connectivity, permeability and ease of movement within and to the centre.”
When constructed, access to the new Childers service station will be via Churchill and Noakes Street.
The development was approved in full with conditions, including conditions that will limit deliveries and loading and unloading activities to between 7 am and 10 pm each day.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads, through the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA), also assessed the application and have imposed conditions to ensure the safety and efficiency of the Bruce Highway is maintained.
