A new cafe will open up to travellers at Bundaberg Airport from today, with snacks, desserts, sandwiches and a range of hot and cold beverages on the menu.

Bundy Bites Cafe is an initiative of Bundaberg Regional Council and will operate under a trial period while flight numbers begin to increase.

Bundaberg Airport portfolio spokesperson Cr Greg Barnes said the new cafe would have a focus on showcasing local produce while providing refreshments to travellers before they board their flights.

“Bundy Bites cafe will operate based on demand and in line with flight arrival and departure times,” he said.

“There will be plenty of snacks and light meals to choose from including assorted sandwiches and toasties, fruits salad, a gourmet box of treats plus delicious sweet included slices, bliss balls, muffins and more.

“A range of hot and cold drinks will also be on the menu as will an assortment of snacks.”

Cr Barnes said Bundy Bites Cafe would be operated by Moncrieff Entertainment Centre staff, who were fully equipped to help service the airport cafe as needed.

He said the opportunity would help to deliver a welcoming experience for those travelling through the terminal.

“With flight numbers slowly increasing this is an opportunity to showcase our wonderful local produce to ensure travellers are getting a real taste of Bundy as soon as they step off the plane.”

“While there is not enough activity to warrant a commercial operation as of yet, Bundy Bites will help deliver the necessities of a quick meal, snack or beverage to travellers in the interim.”
