After 10 years in the health and beauty industry Mellisa Walker felt the timing was just right to venture out on her own and open Hair by Mell.
The new hairdressing business has opened its doors at Westside Shopping Centre, in the building previously occupied by Hannah Rose, and Mell is excited to welcome new customers.
“I moved to Bundaberg six years ago after hair dressing in Hervey Bay,” Mell said.
“The timing felt right, and I had a lot of encouragement from my family.
“It was a big step to open on my own, but it’s going good so far!”
Branching out on her own, the 30-year-old said she offered a one-stop shop to cover all the regular hairdressing needs.
Mell said since she was a young girl it had been her dream to open her own salon.
“I’ve always known from a young age, roughly around eight, that I’ve always wanted to do hairdressing,” she said.
“I’m still very much passionate about it.
“I love all aspects of hairdressing, but most of all getting to know my clients and building a relationship with them.
“(It) makes me feel energised knowing my clients are walking out feeling fresh.”
Hair by Mell is open Tuesday to Friday 9 am – 5 pm and Saturday 9 am – 2 pm. For more information check out the Facebook page.
