Welcome to this week's lawn bowls column which features results and news from clubs right across the region.

Bowls Burnett Men


Tuesday 9th August: 50/50 Day – Winners: Brad McKeen, Dave Rye 1st Runners Up: Spud Murphy, Bud Farlow 2nd Runners Up: J Haysom, John Jardine Sportsman: Steve Coleman, Geoff Gill. The 1 bowl Jackpot was not won and will now be $140 next Tuesday.

Wednesday 10th August: Scroungers: Winner: Keith Whalley Runner Up: Brendan Whalley

Thursday 11th August: ‘Thirsty Thursday’ Winners: Keith Whalley, Fred Dewhurst

Thursday 11th August: Night Bowls – Winners: Col Deller, Rob Gibson Runners Up: Annette, Col Leo. Pick the Joker Jackpot was not won and next week will be $540+. Thank you to DNA Property Consultants for their continued support and sponsorship.

Friday 12th August: Winners: Alan Nielsen, Mick Jeffs, Dave Carson Runners Up: Arthur Wood, Russell Spencer.


Division 1 def Easts 59-48 (2 rinks), Division 2 lost to Bundaberg 52-76 (1 rink), Division 3 def Gin Gin 62-49 (2 rinks), Division 4 drew Woodgate 40-40 (1 rink) and Division 5 lost to ICM 44-48. Thank you to all 52 Pennant players that represented Burnett so well. Keep up the good work.

Tuesday 16th August: Burnett Bonza Pairs (Men’s, Ladies, Mixed) Two games of 11 ends where Winners Vs Winners and Losers Vs Losers in the second game. Overall winners (must have won both games) will be decided by adding the number of ends won in the first game to the total shots scored in the second game. First and second game winners will be decided by the highest total shots scored in the game that you won. The 1 bowl Jackpot is currently $140

Wednesday 17th August: ‘Scroungers’ Singles – this is a fun game of Singles similar to consistency singles where points are allocated to the 4 closest bowls to the jack. Games are played over 12 ends with no driving allowed. Names in by 6.15pm with games starting at 6.30pm. green fees are $8 with 50 percent of the green fees being returned as prizemoney. All ability levels welcome so come along for a fun night out.

Thursday 18th August: ‘Thirsty Thursday’ Open Pairs. 3pm start, names by 2.30pm. Free drink (Sponsored) included in green fees. Games will finish at 5pm with two random lucky draws as prizes.

Thursday 18th August: Night Bowls – bowls starts at 6.30pm, names in by 6pm. Bowl under lights and enjoy a fun filled night with a chance at the ‘Pick the Joker’ Jackpot which is currently $540+. Visitors and those that want to try bowls for the first time will be made feel very welcome.

Friday 19th August: Open Pairs (Men’s, Ladies, Mixed) 1pm start, names by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.45pm. Enjoy some social bowls with the chance to win the Friday Jackpot

Saturday 20th August: Round 4 of the District Pennant Competition. Rinks will be available for social bowls. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.45pm for a 1 pm start.

Club opening hours are – Monday (Club closed), Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 10am – 9pm, Thursday 11am – 9pm, Friday 10am – 9pm, Saturday 10am – 6pm (10pm for Functions) Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2pm.

The Goose Club raffle will be drawn on Friday night at 7pm. The Member’s Draw is now at $90 so come along, have a meal and a few drinks with the chance to win some great cash and prizes.

Live entertainment for this Friday night the 19th August will be Johhny K and the following Friday the 26th August, live music will be delivered by Tahli Thomas. Members, Guests, and Visitors are always welcome. Keep up to date here.

  • $4000 MIXED TRIPLES GALA DAY Saturday 17th September –
    3 Games of 15 ends. Prizes paid down to sixth place. Nomination fee $75 per team must accompany entry form. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided. Phone Games Director Lynn Donaldson on 0408 678 688. Nominations close 9th September.
