Platypus Shoes has opened its doors in Hinkler Central, not just stocking fresh footwear but offering a potential foot in the door for future business opportunities.
The new store, which opened on Thursday, features brands like Converse, Nike and Vans.
Platypus Shoes Bundaberg Store Manager Blake Jones said Platypus Shoes had been looking to expand its stores to open in more regional areas and Bundaberg was selected as one of those locations.
“Platypus as a brand is really looking to branch into more regional towns which is fantastic for Bundaberg,” Blake said.
“While people from outside of Bundaberg might see us as quite regional, we see ourselves as a growing city with a booming population, and for retailers to get excited about that and want to open stores in the region is great.
“The parent company Accent own so many other brands, so it is a great opportunity if we see success with Platypus for other brands to potentially open in the region.”
Blake said it was an exciting time for Bundaberg and he said the Platypus Shoes Hinkler Central store would offer something new for local shoppers.
“I am sure plenty of the town have seen it boarded up in the shopping centre and it was great for the months of hard work to come to fruition and celebrate it when we opened,” he said.
“There are a range of styles that you cannot access anywhere else in the town, so it is really exciting.
“I am looking forward to the community knowing they can come to Platypus Shoes and get what they want while seeing the team build relationships with our customers.”
Platypus Shoes Hinkler Central store opening hours are:
- Monday: 9 am – 5.30 pm
- Tuesday: 9 am – 5.30 pm
- Wednesday: 9 am – 5.30 pm
- Thursday: 9 am – 9 pm
- Friday: 9 am – 5.30 pm
- Saturday: 9 am – 5 pm
- Sunday: 10 am – 3 pm
